You might like to use the following method to install your chain mesh fencing.
Clear away the area and make sure the ground is fairly level before pegging out the line the chain mesh fence will follow with string.
Dig holes for the foundations.
- Posts up to 1.40 m: 450mm X 600mm deep.
- Posts over 1.40 m: 450 mm X 750mm deep.
-
Set the straining posts at both ends of the pegged out line. For best results concrete the posts into the ground. You will require straining posts at the ends of the fence, where the fence changes direction or where the ground level changes requiring a raising or lowering of the fence.
-
Run a taut line between the two posts. If you are working with a very long stretch of fencing it may be necessary to include further posts along the length, while it may not be necessary to concrete these posts in, for durability and long life it is recommended. If the fence is more than 1.2 metres high you may need two lengths of line wire.
-
Strain the coil of wire between the posts.
-
Secure one end of the coil of chain mesh to an end post then begin unrolling the coil in the direction of the line.
-
While maintaining tension along the line carefully secure the chain mesh to the line wire until you reach the end post.
-
Secure the chain mesh to the end post.
-
If you need to change direction, divide the roll by untwisting a single spiral of wire, insert a stretcher bar, pull tight and bolt to the post.
-
Use tying wires to attach the chain mesh fence securely to the line wire.
